Ciprian Cristea

Ciprian Cristea is the Head of Unit “COSME Financial Instruments” in Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, European Commission.
He has joined the European Commission in February 2012 as an Advisor to the Director of Directorate “SMEs and Entrepreneurship”.
In 1999 he graduated from the "Babes-Bolyai" University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, specialising in "Banking and Stock Exchange Markets".
Between 1999-2006 he worked mainly in the banking sector in the loans department; the latest positions were Head of the Loans Department and Deputy Branch Manager in an Italian bank in Romania (Banca Italo-Romena Spa), part of Veneto Banca Group.
Between 2006-2012 he has co-owned an insurance broker and a financial consultancy that was mainly providing bank finance intermediation, drafting and implementation of projects for Romanian companies, financed by EU structural funds.
